Did you know that June is Recreation Month? See the menu below for a list of celebrations in communities across the municipality, sorted by location.

  • June 7 -  10 a.m. BLT Elementary School soccer field - Free activities in support of Recreation Month
  • June 11 - 9:30 a.m. East St Margaret’s Bay Elementary - Fun activities to support International Day of Play
  • June 11 - noon Shatford Memorial Elementary - Fun activities to support International Day of Play  
Bedford Hammonds Plains Community Centre
  • Adult Archery – Drop in and try Archery.  If you love it, there are lots of opportunities to sign up for our summer programs!

The Gordon R. Snow Community Centre in Fall River is offering free one-week rentals of portable Pickleball nets.

Drop by the centre, fill out a rental request form and enjoy playing Pickleball in your own backyard.

International Day of Play
  • June 7 - Peace and Friendship Park, Halifax - 1 -3 p.m.
    Loose Parts fun for children and families:
    Loose parts are materials that can be moved around, combined and put together, and moved again. Children decide how and what to play without instructions. Loose parts promote cooperative play and encourage independent discovery. Loose parts include cardboard boxes, milk crates, rope, cardboard tubes, fabrics, etc.
     
  • June 8 - Foundation Wharf, Halifax Waterfront  1- 3 p.m.
    Old Time Play fun for children and families:
    Old Time Play including bean bag toss, skipping, tug of war, physical activity games, hula hoops and lots more analog fun!
