Ready for Rec

Ready for Rec programs are designed for children and youth who have diverse needs and require additional supports to be successful in a recreation environment. The focus is on accommodations, adaptations, and small participant-to-instructor ratios tailored to individual skills and learning styles. This program is delivered by trained staff and volunteers. 

The Ready for Rec Youth summer camp will focus on offering recreation and sport opportunities for youth with disabilities and special needs. Sessions will comprise of different activities such as fundamental movement skill activities, creative activities, and field trips that will allow youth to participate in sport such as swimming, bowling, kayaking, and more.

Ready for REC - Adventure Earth Centre

The Ready for Rec program at Shubie Park is a nature-based program where children will get to play, learn, and explore the outdoors with support. Participants will take part in inclusive and accessible activities such as nature art, free play and exploring the park.

  • Times: 10:00-10:45 a.m. & 11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Summer Camp Programs

Youth (Ages 13-17)

  • Date: Begins Thursday, July 4, 2024 and runs for 7 weeks until Friday, August 16, 2024
    Time: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    Location: Central Spryfield Elementary School, 364 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield

  • Dartmouth
    Date: Begins Tuesday, July 2, 2024 and runs for 8 weeks until Friday, August 23, 2024
    Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    Location: Hawthorne Elementary School and Findlay Community
  • Spryfield
    Date: Begins July 2nd, 2024, and runs for 8 weeks until Friday August 23, 2024
    Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    Location: Captain William Spry Community Centre, 16 Sussex Street, Spryfield
