The St. Mary's Boat Club offer's FREE canoe and stand up paddle board rentals.
- Free Canoe Rentals (June - September)
Location: St. Mary's Boat Club (Rentals are located near the docks)
- Available on weekends between June 6 to September 26, 2026.
- Available on Saturdays in June and September.
- Available on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August.
- Rentals available between 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., 1-hour rentals.
- Limited drop-in spaces are available; pre-registration is recommended.
- All safety equipment will be provided.
- One Rental is for one Canoe (accommodates up to 2 adults and 2 small children or 3 adults).
Rental Process:
All canoe rentals are required to be booked in advance by calling 902-490-6666 or online at www.halifax.ca/myrec. Limited drop-in spaces will be available each day, pre-registration is recommended.
When you show up:
- Sign a Canoe/Kayak Waiver form which can be downloaded by clicking here or can be completed on arrival.
- Provide a current Government-issued ID required to borrow the gear.
When borrowing a canoe, you must:
- Abide by all safety regulations set out by Transport Canada and St. Mary’s Boat Club.
- Personal flotation devices (PFDs) must be worn at all times.
- Stay within the boundaries of the Northwest Arm as indicated by staff.
- Free Stand-up Paddle Board Rentals (June - September)
Location: St. Mary's Boat Club (Rentals are located near the docks)

When you show up:
- Sign a rental waiver form which can be downloaded by clicking here or can be completed on arrival.
- Provide a current Government ID required to borrow the gear.
