Halifax Common Pool

The new Halifax Common pool is located on the Halifax Mainland Common between Cogswell Street and Bell Road. The pool offers a 25m five-lane pool, three climbing walls, beach entry with play features and large universal change rooms. The pool will offer a variety of activities such as lane swimming, swimming lessons and open swims. 

The Halifax Common Pool opened on July 6 and closed on August 31 for the 2023 season. 

Fee Structure/Memberships

Access to lane swimming and open swims will be free of charge on a first come basis. Color bracelets will be handed out for each swim, bracelets for the different times can picked up starting at 10 a.m. A maximum of 5 bracelets, will be provided to any one individual for one designated time. Swimmers will be asked to leave the pool at the end of each swim to allow the next group to access the pool.

A fee will be charged for programs such as swimming lessons, rentals and aquatic sports (Lifesaving sport, water polo, swim team, etc).

Changerooms

• The pool has universal change rooms with individual and family cubicles. There are also accessible cubicles available for use.

• Lockers are available for day use only. Bring your own lock, but don't forget to take it with you when you leave. Locks will be cut off at the end of each day and items placed in storage.

Adaptive equipment

We're pleased to offer the following adaptive equipment at the commons pool:

• lifejackets
• pool lift
• aquatic wheelchair

Age Guideline

Children 6 and under

• Children 6 years old or younger must have a parent or guardian (18 years or older) within arms reach at all times, to a maximum of 3 children per adult.

Children between 7 and 11

• Children between the ages of 7 and 11 must have a parent or guardian (18 years or older), at the facility, in case of an emergency.

Youth 12 - 17

• Youth between the ages of 12 and 17 can use the facility on their own, but cannot act as a guardian for children 11 and under.

Activity Booking

No pre-bookings are required to access the pool, access is free on a first come basis.

Inclement Weather

The Halifax Common Outdoor pool will remain open at all times, with the exception of thunder and lightning storms.
