Service Adjustments

This page lists Halifax Transit service adjustments, including permanent stop relocations and consolidations, scheduling updates, and other long-term service changes.

Service Changes

Halifax Transit will introduce the following service changes starting Monday, May 18, 2026:

  • Routes 1, 8, 192, 194, 196 and outbound trips on Route 330 will operate on new routings due to construction related to Phase 2 of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor project.
  • Route 29 will continue operating on a long-term detour due to the Tower Road bridge closure. Route maps and stop announcements have been updated to reflect this detour, which is anticipated to remain in place until approximately Dec. 2026.
  • Minor schedule adjustments will take place on Routes 51A and 64 to improve efficiency and connections with other routes. Routes 4 and 90 will also see minor timepoint adjustments.
  • As of May 18, 2026, printed Halifax Transit Riders’ Guides and route maps will no longer be produced. Customers can access printable schedules and individual route maps online at: halifax.ca/transit
  • Data for all bus stops and route maps will be updated on third-party trip planning apps effective May 18.

Routing changes

Routes 1, 8, 192, 194, 196, 330

Routes 1, 8, 192, 194, 196 and outbound trips on Route 330 will operate on new routings due to construction related to Phase 2 of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor project. As a result, stops along Bayers Road, between Connaught Avenue and Windsor Street, will not be serviced during construction. Temporary stops will be in place along Connaught Avenue, Almon Street and Windsor Street. These routing changes are expected to remain in effect for approximately two years while construction is underway.

Route 29

Route 29 will continue operating on a long-term detour due to the Tower Road CN Bridge Rehabilitation project. Route maps and stop announcements have been updated to reflect this detour, which is anticipated to remain in place until approximately December 2026.

Schedule changes

Routes 4, 90

The timepoint at Windsor & Young (2015) will be replaced with a timepoint at Windsor & Cork (8571). Both routes service this timepoint on their outbound trips. Listed times in the schedule will not be affected.

Route 51A/B

Several trips on Route 51A will be removed to reduce overlap with Route 51B.

Route 64

Trips on Route 64 to Highfield Terminal will now depart the timepoint at John Savage & Commodore (2100) several minutes earlier to allow for better connections at the terminal.

Service Reductions in Effect Until Further Notice 

Beginning Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, Halifax Transit temporarily suspended service on three bus routes, and made schedule adjustments to 32 routes.

Effective Nov. 20, 2023, Halifax Transit increased service due to progress made in improving staffing levels. Approximately one-quarter of the previously reduced service was reinstated. Specifically, a total of 26 routes had 55 trips reinstated, with 12 of these routes returning to full service. The following routes had trips reinstated:

Ferry and Access-A-Bus services are not impacted by these service reductions and are expected to continue as scheduled.
