This page lists temporary Halifax Transit service disruptions for conventional bus, Regional Express, and Ferry services, including temporary stop closures and detours.

These service disruptions have been broken down into the following categories:

Service Reductions Starting February 27, 2023

Beginning Monday, February 27, 2023, Halifax Transit temporarily suspended service on three bus routes, made schedule adjustments to three routes, and removed trips from 30 routes. For more information about these service reductions, please visit our Service Adjustments page.

Reopening of Scotia Square Terminal

Beginning Monday, December 16, 2024, Scotia Square Terminal will reopen.

Passengers are directed to use the following bays at Scotia Square:

Stop Barrington St After Duke St Bay 1 (6087) will located on Barrington St before Reconciliation Way. Routes that will service this stop include: 1, 9A, 9B, 10A, 10B, 10C, 182, 183, 185, 186, 192, 194, and 196.
Stop Barrington St Before Cogswell St Bay 2 (2348) will be located further down Barrington St, after Reconciliation Way. Routes that will service this stop include: 2, 7B, 8, 29, 123, 127, 135, 136, 137, 138, 158, 159, 161, 165, 168A, and 168B.
Stop Barrington St After Cogswell St Bay 3 (6105) will be located on Barrington St after Cogswell St. Routes that will service this stop include: 5, 84, 93, 123, 127, 135, 136, 137, 138, 158, 159, 161, 165, 168A, and 168B.
Stop Barrington St At Scotia Square Bay 4 (6108) will be located further down Barrington St, in the direction of Duke St. Routes that will service this stop include: 2, 7A, 29, 182, 183, 185, 186, 192, 194, and 196.
Stop Barrington St Before Duke St Bay 5 (6107) will be located further on Barrington St before Duke St. Routes that will service this stop include: 1, 8, 9A, 9B, 10A, 10B, and 10C.

**Please note: Regional Express Routes (320, 330, 370) will continue to service Stop Duke St Before Albemarle St (9061) after Monday, December 16, 2024.

Stop Closures - Barrington St, Upper Water St, And Valour Way

Date: Effective Monday, October 28, 2024, until further notice

6 stops on Barrington St and Upper Water St will continue to be impacted by construction and the opening of a new roundabout connecting Barrington St and Upper Water St. These stops will be impacted as follows:

Stop Barrington St After Nora Bernard St (6125) will close permanently. Passengers on Routes 1, 2, 5, 10, 29, 84, 93, and 158 are directed to a temporary stop located in front of 2180 Upper Water St.
Stop Barrington St Before Nora Bernard St (6104) will close until further notice. Passengers on Routes 1, 2, 5, 10, 29, 84, and 93 are directed to a temporary stop located approximately 100 metres before the location of Stop 6104 OR to a temporary stop located in front of 2180 Upper Water St.
The temporary stop located on Barrington St before Nora Bernard St, opposite the Metro Turning Point Centre, will close permanently. Passengers on Routes 2, 29, and 84 are are directed to a temporary stop located on Upper Water St before the roundabout.
A new temporary stop located on Barrington St after the roundabout, travelling towards the Macdonald Bridge, will be serviced by Routes 2, 29, and 84.
Stops Upper Water St Before Valour Way (8414), Upper Water St After Valour Way (8413), and Upper Water St Before Cogswell St (8606) are now considered permanently closed.

*Please note that Route 50 will not service Stop Barrington St Before North St (2021).

*Please note that buses travelling through this area at evening rush hours are currently experiencing significant delays due to construction associated with the Cogswell District project.

QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project

Stop Closure - 8179

Date: Effective Monday, August 26, 2024, until further notice

Route Affected: 4, 7A, 8, 90

Beginning Monday, August 26, 2024, until further notice, Stop Robie St After Veterans Memorial Ln (8179) will be closed due to construction. Passengers on Routes 4, 7A, 8, and 90 are directed to a temporary stop located approximately 50 metres before the current stop.

Beginning Monday, November 4 2024, until further notice, Stop Hwy 7 After Upper Governor St (8930) will be closed due to construction. Passengers on Route 401 are directed to Stop Hwy 7 At Civic 1799 (8931).

Stop Closure - 8768

Date: Effective Monday, November 4 2024, until further notice

Beginning Monday, November 4 2024, until further notice, Stop Hwy 7 Before Lower Governor St (8768) will be closed due to construction. Passengers on Route 401 are directed to Stop Hwy 7 After Civic 1776 (8767).

Temporary Stop Relocation - 7411

Date: Effective Thursday, September 9, 2021, until further notice

Routes Affected: 1

Starting Thursday, September 9, 2021, until further notice, Stop Oxford St After North St (7411) will be relocated due to construction. Passengers on Route 1 are directed to a the stop's temporary location located on Oxford St near Civic 2663.

Stop Closure - 7006

Date: Effective Tuesday, January 3, 2023, until further notice

Beginning Tuesday, January 3, 2023, until further notice, Stop Joseph Howe Dr After Clinton Ave (7006) will be closed due to construction. Passengers on Route 24 are directed to a temporary Stop located in front of civic address 2669 Joseph Howe Dr.

Stop Closure - 8567

Date: Effective Wednesday, October 2, 2024, until further notice

Route Affected: 4, 90

Beginning Wednesday, October 2, 2024, until further notice, Stop Windsor St Before Strawberry Hill St (8567) will be closed due to construction. Passengers on Routes 4 and 90 are directed to a temporary stop located approximately 60 metres before the current stop, before Hood St.

Stop Closure - 6164

Date: Effective Tuesday, October 22, 2024, until further notice

Beginning Tuesday, October 22, 2024, until further notice, Stop St Margarets Bay Rd Opposite Boylan Ln (6164) will be closed due construction related to accessibility upgrades. Passengers on Routes 21 and 123 are directed to a temporary stop located in front of Civic 1400 St Margarets Bay Rd.

Detour Notice - University Ave

Date: Effective Wednesday, October 30, 2024, until further notice, daily each weekday (Mondays through Fridays) from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Beginning Monday, November 25, 2024, until Friday, December 20, 2024, Stop Cobequid Rd After Maple Grove Dr (6431) will be closed due to construction. Passengers on Routes 82 and 182 are directed to a temporary stop in front of Civic 424 Cobequid Rd.

Stop Closure - 6441

Date: Effective Monday, November 25, 2024, until Friday, December 20, 2024.

Routes Affected: 82, 182

Beginning Monday, November 25, 2024, until Friday, December 20, 2024, Stop Cobequid Rd Before Maple Grove Dr (6441) will be closed due to construction. Passengers on Routes 82 and 182 are directed to a temporary stop in front of Civic 425 Cobequid Rd.

Stop Closure - 7405

Date: Effective Friday, November 22, 2024, until further notice.

Route Affected: 1

Beginning Friday, November 22, 2024, until further notice, Stop Oxford St Before Berlin St (7405) will be closed due to construction to upgrade the bus stop. Passengers on Route 1 are directed to a temporary stop near Civic 2663 Oxford St.

Stop Closure - 8222

Date: Effective Tuesday, November 26, 2024, until Monday, December 30, 2024, each weekday (Monday through Friday) from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
