The SmartTrip Program provides employers in Halifax Regional Municipality with sustainable commuting programs and benefits for their employees. This program aims to reduce single-occupancy vehicle trips during peak hours by encouraging employees to engage in alternative, sustainable transportation decisions.
When you register your organization with SmartTrip, you gain access to the following benefits for your employees.
EPass is an annual discounted transit pass, purchased by the employee through payroll deduction. For more information on the EPass program, please click here.
The GRH program provides employees who commute to work sustainably at least 3+ times a week with guaranteed transportation home via taxi in the event of personal illness or emergency while at work. This service may be used up to 5 times a year.
Free workshops on cycling. Learn more about how to get around by bike in the municipality and how to incorporate Halifax Transit into your cycling commute. Workshops are be provided on an on-demand basis.
Free to use, the smartridehalifax.ca website matches commuters based on proximity to origin and destination points, travel routes, similar working hours and compatible carpooling preferences.

Employers must be a SmartTrip member to access the benefits outlined above. SmartTrip members are charged an annual fee based on the size of their workplace (see fee table below).
