Lake Banook Coordination Plan

The discussion to create the Lake Banook Coordination Plan originated from a motion from Regional Council to “assess the need for a new Master Plan for Lake Banook, that would include all stakeholders, after Canoe ’22”. In response, municipal staff have developed a draft version of the Lake Banook Coordination Plan which identifies park improvements based on recommendations from two previously completed master plans and internal engagement with project stakeholders.

The final version of the plan will outline park improvements to be completed over a series of budget cycles to ensure the lake can host future International Canoe Federation events and also supports the community’s recreational needs.

What's new

A survey was launched in December 2024, which was accompanied by a public open house on December 2, 2024. Feedback from the community engagement sessions will be used to refine the recommendations within the final plan.

A What We Heard Report has been added to the project’s survey web page. It outlines key findings from the project’s survey. An updated version of the plan is in progress and will be presented to Regional Council within the year.
