Last updated: Monday, Aug. 15, 2022

The Alderney Gate Revitalization Project is now complete. The final phase of this project (Phase 2) was completed in August 2022.

The revitalized lobby and new universal washroom are open to residents, offering a space that is more modern, fresh and people-focused.

Project background

The Alderney Gate Revitalization Project improved the usefulness of the area, by providing a gathering place for the public, programming space for the library, as well as an overflow space for the market.

Phase 1 of the project was completed in December 2018. This phase involved the renovation of the pedway, with new interior finishes, three divided gathering spaces with accessible seating, improved air conditioning, and an overall enhanced space. Phase 1 received the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Architecture.

The same design intention and style from Phase 1 was applied to Phase 2. Phase 2 of the project was completed in May 2022. This phase involved upgrading the Alderney Gate main lobby and library entrance and installing a new universal washroom.
