Halifax Regional Police Chief Recruitment

The municipality has begun the recruitment process for the next Chief of Police

Search firm Royer Thompson is supporting the recruitment process and is currently in the key partners consultation phase. The firm has been engaging a broad array of key partners, community groups and members connected to the position, to determine the preferred leadership qualities, attributes and experience of the future Chief of Police. This feedback will support the Search Committee in defining the ideal candidate profile.

Engagement with key partners and a public online survey will be used to identify the preferred leadership qualities, attributes and experience wanted in the future Chief of Police.

Residents are welcome to share their feedback on the ideal candidate for the future Chief of Police, via a public online survey. Survey responses will shape the ideal candidate profile and recruitment process.

The survey was designed to collect insight from all members of the municipality and takes less than five minutes to complete. Responses are anonymous – only the project consulting firm have access to the responses. The survey will close at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
