Vehicles can be ticketed or towed, at any time, if their vehicle is interfering with snow clearing operations as outlined in Section 139 of the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.

Will this permit guarantee me a parking spot?

No. A permit allows the opportunity to park, however no permit offered by the municipality guarantees parking. When trying to determine the number of permits to assign to a block, we look at the number of cars that will fit as well as the number of other permits issued that may compete for that space. While a Monthly Commuter Parking Permit does not guarantee parking on the street for which it is issued, we often adjust inventories so that permit holders can be reasonably certain they will get a spot.

Student Commuter Parking Permit

Who is eligible for a Student Commuter Parking Permit?

This permit is available to any currently registered student with valid student ID. EG: DAL, Kings, MSVU, NSCAD, NSCC, SMU, etc.

Zone 8, 9, 11 $40/month
Zone 2, 5, 6 $45/month
Zone 7, 10, 16 $60/month

What do I need to apply?

The by-law only applies in places where signs are in place to restrict on-street parking. It does not mean that drivers need a parking permit to park on every street. Depending on the street, there may be no signs requiring any type of permit.

For permit parking, zones are numbered from 1-16. With the new Parking Permit Zone Lookup – Interactive Map users can zoom in and out to view specific parking permit zone boundaries and streets.
