Help for refugees in Halifax
If you have recently arrived in Canada as a refugee or are refugee claimant and living in Halifax, you can get free access to many services and and programs for one year with a Welcomed in Halifax pass.
The "Welcomed in Halifax” pass is a partnership created by the Halifax Immigration Partnership and offers free admission to the following facilities and HRM services:
Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Canada Games Centre, Halifax Transit and HRM Parks & Recreation facilities.
How can I get a Welcomed in Halifax pass?
The pass is free to protected persons living in the Halifax region, including:
· Government assisted refugees
· Privately sponsored refugees
· Refugees coming with the blended visa office-referred program
· Refugee claimants who have had their refugee process approved by the Canada Refugee Board
To qualify, you must have arrived within one year of requesting the card.
Where do I get the Welcomed in Halifax pass?
The Halifax Refugee Clinic and the YMCA Immigrant services support the distribution of the pass to eligible persons.
