Councillor Billy Gillis was elected to represent Lower Sackville - Beaver Bank in the 2024 Municipal Election. Raised in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Billy has lived in the Lower Sackville - Beaver Bank area for over 20 years. He is married to his high school sweetheart and is a proud father of two boys and a huge dog lover. For the past decade, Billy has volunteered as a baseball coach, working with local youth. He takes great pride in watching them grow up to become not only skilled players but confident, community-minded individuals.
Billy has worked as a manager in the construction industry for the past 20 years specializing in technology. Billy crossed paths with many blue-collar workers in his career, which he feels gives a fresh and unique perspective to Council. In Billy’s career he has project managed technical projects, executing them with a high level of attention to detail to ensure successful outcomes.
