Motion:
That the Board of Police Commissioners approve the annual renewal of the Board’s membership in the Nova Scotia Association of Police Governance in the amount of $900.
4.2. MEMBERS OF BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS
4.2.1 Commissioner Kent - Canadian Association of Police Governance 2023 Annual Conference and Hosting Committee for Canadian Association of Police Governance 2024 Annual Conference [PDF]
Motion:
That the Board of Police Commissioners:
1. Approve Commissioner Yemi Akindoju to attend the Canadian Association of Police Governance (CAPG) 2023 Annual Conference to be held in-person in St. John’s from August 15-18, 2023, as the Board’s CAPG representative and that Board of Police Commissioners assumes all costs associated with attending (CAPG) 2023 Annual Conference meetings.
2. Approve Commissioner Becky Kent, Chair, to attend the CAPG 2023 Annual Conference in St. John’s to represent the Board in advance of Halifax hosting the CAPG 2024 Annual Conference and that Board of Police Commissioners assumes all costs associated with attending (CAPG) 2023 Annual Conference and closing breakfast.
3. Appoint Commissioner Blackburn to serve as the Board’s representative on the CAPG 2024 Annual Conference hosting committee.
4. Appoint a steering committee for the purpose of supporting the CAPG 2024 Annual Conference hosting committee, that reflects local events and focus as the host city. Membership to consist of Chair Kent, Commissioner Akindoju, Commissioner Blackburn and former Commissioner Carole McDougall.
5. IN CAMERA (IN PRIVATE)
The Board of Police Commissioners may rise and go into a private In Camera (In Private) session, in accordance with Section 51 of the Nova Scotia Police Act for the purposes of dealing with the following:
5.1 PERSONNEL CONDUCT MATTER - Private and Confidential Report
A matter pertaining to personnel conduct.
Motion:
That the Board of Police Commissioners:
1. Adopt the recommendations as outlined in the private and confidential report dated May 31, 2023; and
2. Direct that the private and confidential report dated May 31, 2023 be maintained private and confidential.
5.2 PERSONNEL CONDUCT MATTER - Private and Confidential Report
A matter pertaining to personnel conduct.
Motion:
That the Board of Police Commissioners convene to in camera to discuss the matter.
5.3 PERSONNEL MATTER – Private and Confidential Report
A matter pertaining to an identifiable individual or group.

That the Board of Police Commissioners convene to in camera to discuss the matter.
