Volunteer Awards
Each year during National Volunteer Week, we recognize the extraordinary contributions of individuals and groups who have volunteered in local communities through our Annual Volunteer Awards. This year we're recognizing 75 dedicated volunteers and 3 outstanding volunteer organizations through our website. Learn about the outstanding volunteers in your area.
Community Gardens
Did you know that Parks & Recreation’s Neighbourhood & Volunteer Services supports over 23 volunteer-run community gardens across the municipality? Get in touch with our Community Developers to learn more about starting a community garden in your neighbourhood.
Step Up to Leadership
Did you know that Neighbourhood & Volunteer Services offers a free nine-week program to help you develop leadership skills and build strong communities? Step Up to Leadership was developed by volunteers for volunteers, and has already trained over 600 residents.
Volunteer Conference
Did you know that for 19 years the Municipality has provided an annual training, networking, and learning opportunity to over 150 volunteers, helping them become more effective in their work to build strong communities? Stay tuned for information about the 2021 Volunteer Conference taking place in November!
Neighbourhood Placemaking
Did you know that Neighbourhood & Volunteer Services supports up to five volunteer-led Neighbourhood Placemaking projects each year? We work collaboratively with community members to design accessible, creative, and successful project plans. Get in touch with our Community Developers to learn more!
Community Art Program
Use the power of the arts to bring people in your community together and make lasting connections through the Community Art Program. Your Community Developer can help teach you the skills to plan for a successful project with the greatest impact. Matching support funding is also available to one group annually, so get in touch to see if your project qualifies.
