If you receive a summary offence ticket for not having your driver’s licence or proof of insurance with you while driving, you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. to request that your ticket be cancelled. Be sure to include your contact number.
Allow three business days for Traffic Support Services to call you with the confirmation that your ticket will be withdrawn.

You can request that your ticket be cancelled if:
- the ticket was issued by Halifax Regional Police or Halifax District RCMP
- the ticket is for Halifax or Dartmouth provincial courts
- you can provide valid documentation to prove that you weren’t in violation of the Motor Vehicle Act at the time of the offence
You’ll have to pay a $25 processing fee and you must make your request no later than 7 days before the stated due date on your ticket. Please note that the $25 fee is currently being waived.
If you miss the due date, you’ll have to contact the courthouse.
No driver’s licence tickets
Your driver’s licence must be valid for the time of the offence. It also must be the correct class for the vehicle you were driving when the offence occurred and the expiry date must cover the date the ticket was issued.
No proof of insurance tickets
Your insurance card (pink) for the vehicle you were driving must be valid for the time of the offence. You’ll also need the vehicle permit for the vehicle you were driving when the offence occurred. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the vehicle permit must match the VIN on your insurance card.
