Police headquarters, located at 1975 Gottingen Street, Halifax, is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for these services:

• Ticket withdraws
• Reporting non-dispatchable incidents
• Reporting motor vehicle collisions
• Releasing seized vehicles

Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the following services are available at the reception desk at police headquarters:

• Criminal record checks
• Vulnerable sector checks
• Fingerprinting
• Ticket withdraws
• Reporting non-dispatchable incidents
• Reporting motor vehicle collisions
• Releasing seized vehicles
• Returning lost and found and seized property

Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the following services are available at the reception desk at the East Division Office (7 Mellor Avenue, Dartmouth) and West Division Office (15 Convoy Run, Bedford):

• Criminal record checks
• Vulnerable sector checks
• Ticket withdraws
• Reporting non-dispatchable incidents
• Reporting motor vehicle collisions
• Releasing seized vehicles

Incident Reports cannot be accepted via e-mail. Visit our Online Crime Reporting System to report certain crimes not in-progress such as thefts and property damage.

Service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Emergency: 911

When immediate action is required: someone's health, safety or property is in jeopardy or a crime is in progress. In-progress is defined as currently happening, the suspect may still be in the area and/or the victim may still be in danger.

Examples: Assaults, robberies, break and enters, fights, gunshots, vehicle accidents with injuries, suspected impaired drivers, someone is in the process of stealing your vehicle.

Please DO NOT call 911 for any non-emergency matters. If you aren’t sure if your situation is a 911 emergency it is best to call and let the experts decide whether help needs to be sent or not. Built-in TTY/TDD for the hearing impaired is available on all 9-1-1 emergency calls.

Non-emergency Dispatch: 902.490.5020 or 902.490.7252 (TTY)

When an officer is required to come to the scene but it's not an emergency.  

Examples: Driving complaints in progress, noise complaints in progress, historical sexual assaults.

Filing a report that doesn't require an officer to come to the scene. You can also report online. 

Examples: Theft, thefts from vehicles, mischief/property damage, fraud, lost/found property.
