Councillor Jean St.Amand

Jean St-Amand was elected as Regional Councillor for Bedford - Wentworth in the 2024 Municipal Election.

Councillor St-Amand was born in Halifax and moved around as a child, as is common in military families, before finally returning to Nova Scotia to live in Bedford in 1985, where he's been ever since. Jean and his wife Angela are proud parents of two grown daughters and a family dog.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University, specializing in marketing communications which led to a multimedia account management position in a large local advertising agency. In 2000, Jean formed his own communications consultancy, developing a reputation for creativity and service for small and medium sized business clients.

Councillor St-Amand has brought his professional expertise to many community organizations that needed help including Phoenix Youth Programs, the Bedford Minor Basketball Association and UNICEF. In 2007, when Jean's father was diagnosed with lung cancer, Jean founded and organized the Bedford 5k to Beat Lung Cancer that was a part of Bedford Days for 10 years and raised more than $50,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. He also served several years on school advisory committees and participated in boundary reviews for families of schools in Bedford.

A strong proponent of fitness and health, Jean has been a part-time CrossFit trainer and certified Olympic weightlifting coach for the past nine years, as well as hosting a fitness and healthy living podcast since 2018.
