The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to share feedback on the future of the Young District in several upcoming open house sessions at the Halifax Forum.
Significant development is anticipated in the Young District, the area in Halifax’s North End bounded by Young, Robie, Almon and Windsor streets, in the coming years. It is important to ensure the required municipal services – such as recreational facilities, parks, roads, and transit, and other utilities like water, gas, and power – are in place to serve the needs of the existing and future community in a sustainable way.
Municipal staff are hoping to hear from residents about how they travel within the Young District, what they enjoy about the area and what improvements they would like to see. There will be an opportunity to complete a survey and speak to municipal staff and consultants.
Public Open House
Three separate sessions will be available to attend in the morning, afternoon and evening on Wednesday, June 26:
- 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
- 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
The sessions will be hosted at Maritime Hall at the Halifax Forum, 2901 Windsor Street (Almon Street entrance). All sessions will provide the same information. Registration is not required.
Feedback from the sessions will inform draft amendments to the Regional Centre Secondary Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-law, as well as the development of the Young District Infrastructure Plan.
The Nova Scotia Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing has provided a funding grant to support this project.

Les résidents sont invités à partager leurs commentaires sur l’avenir du district Young
La Municipalité régionale d’Halifax invite les résidents à donner leur avis sur l’avenir du quartier Young lors de plusieurs séances de portes ouvertes qui auront lieu au Forum d’Halifax.
Avec le développement important prévu dans le quartier Young, il est important de s’assurer que les services municipaux nécessaires, tels que les installations de loisirs, les parcs, les routes, les transports en commun et les autres services publics tels que l’eau, le gaz et l’électricité, sont en place pour répondre aux besoins de la communauté existante et future de manière durable.
Le personnel espère recevoir des commentaires des résidents sur leurs déplacements dans le quartier Young aujourd’hui, ce qu’ils apprécient actuellement dans la région et les améliorations qu’ils aimeraient voir dans le futur. Les résidents auront la chance de remplir un sondage et de parler au personnel municipal et aux consultants.
Portes ouvertes publiques
Trois séances distinctes seront disponibles le matin, l’après-midi et le soir le mercredi 26 juin. Les sessions auront lieu au Maritime Hall du Forum d’Halifax, au 2901, rue Windsor (entrée de rue Almon). Toutes les séances fourniront les mêmes informations. Aucune inscription n’est requise.

Les commentaires des séances informeront les amendements préliminaires à la Stratégie de planification municipale secondaire du Centre régional et au Règlement d’utilisation des terres, ainsi que l’élaboration du Plan d’infrastructure du district Young.
Le ministère des Affaires municipales et du Logement de la Nouvelle-Écosse a accordé une subvention de financement pour soutenir ce projet.
