Police have laid new charges in relation to a man entering two residences under false pretenses last month in Halifax.
On March 25 at approximately 4:40 p.m., police were called to an apartment building in the 200 block of the Bedford Highway in relation to a man who pretended to be a representative of the building’s management and was there to do an inspection of the apartment. The man pushed past the tenant and walked into the apartment. When she called to verify the man’s identity, he left the apartment.
While on scene, officers received a second report that the man had entered another apartment without permission from the tenant. The man left the apartment after being confronted by her roommate.
The suspect was arrested in the area a short time later without further incident.
Samuel Boimah McGill, 24, was initially charged with two counts of being unlawfully in a dwelling house and one count of assault. As part of the ongoing investigation, investigators with the Sexual Assault Investigative Team determined that a sexual assault had occurred in both incidents and the charges were amended on March 30.
McGill is now facing the following charges:
- Sexual assault (x2)
- Break and enter (x2)
- Unlawful confinement
He has been remanded to appear in court a later date.
