Police have charged a man with six break and enters and four thefts that occurred in Halifax.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. on September 1, police responded to a break and enter in progress at the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation located at 1094 Queen Street. A man had thrown a rock through a window to gain entrance to the store. The suspect fled the area on foot but was located by a responding officer a short distance away and arrested without incident.
The investigation provided that the man was responsible for attempted break-ins earlier that evening at two other Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation stores, located at 2559 Agricola Street and 6169 Quinpool Road.
Richard James Lerue, 31, of Halifax is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:
- Break and enter (x 3)
- Attempted break and enter (x 3)
- Breach of probation order (x 8)
- Breach of court order (x 5)
- Mischief under $5,000 (x4)
Through the investigation, officers found the man to be responsible for three other break and enters that occurred last week at Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation stores located at 214 Chain Lake Drive and 117 Kearney Lake Road as well as Shoppers Drug Mart located at 315 Herring Cove Road.
Lerue is scheduled to appear in court today in relation to the incidents from last week to face charges of:
- Theft under $5,000 (x 4)
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (x 4)
- Breach of court order
- Breach of probation (x 8)
