The 18th annual CopShop, presented by Halifax Shopping Centre and Halifax Regional Police (HRP), will take place on Wednesday, December 7 at 11 a.m. at Halifax Shopping Centre.

For the event, HRP officers will become personal shoppers to 50 local children as they set out for a special shopping spree. Each child will receive a $200 gift card generously donated by Halifax Shopping Centre, a stocking filled with goodies and a new winter coat from Sport Chek. In the spirit of giving, Halifax Shopping Centre will also give each shopping duo a $10 gift card to help pay it forward; the CopShop participant will purchase a gift for a child the same age, which the mall will then donate to the Salvation Army Toy Drive.

Stephanie Schnare of Halifax Shopping Centre and selected officers and children will be available for interviews during CopShop.

Media are invited to attend the event. The schedule is as follows:

11:00 a.m. – Children and officers meet in the Terrace (food court, Level 1) for pairing

11:15 a.m. – Chief Kinsella addresses the crowd and Santa distributes stockings and gift cards

11:30 a.m.  – Children and officers eat lunch before shopping and then take a group photograph. Media connects with children and officers
