Halifax Regional Police is providing an update in relation to violations under the Nova Scotia Emergency Management Act and Health Protection Act related to COVID-19 directives.

Since our last report on Monday, HRP issued seven tickets for violations of the Health Protection Act, bringing the total to 191 since the Province declared a state of emergency. The majority of these were in relation to being in prohibited areas under the Emergency Management Act. Since the declaration of the state of emergency, HRP has responded to a total of 1,644 COVID-19 related calls.

With the upcoming long weekend, and the expected nice weather, we will continue to watch for and respond to violations of the Covid-19 regulations set out by the Health Authority. Education is always our first approach, but we will enforce the regulations when necessary.

We advise members of the public to continue to educate themselves on the directives and Covid-19 enforcement measures at https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/. More information on what you can do to help curb the spread of COVID-19 is available on the Halifax Regional Police website

The vast majority of the public is complying with the requirements and we appreciate the efforts of everyone who is helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We encourage everyone to continue this collective effort. Let’s work together to curb the spread of the virus.
