Request
Application for a development agreement to consolidate multiple daycare facilities into a childcare center under a single agreement and expand capacity by 48 children to a total of 134 children at 65-71 Sunnybrae Avenue and 70 Central Avenue, Fairview.
Proposal
The existing childcare facilities are located on four separate properties, collectively known as Magic Beans Child Care Centre. The current campus serves 86 children, and the applicant is requesting to expand by adding space for 48 additional children and incorporate 71 Sunnybrae Ave. into the centre. This expansion would bring the total capacity to 134 children across five properties. No exterior alterations or changes to the existing buildings are proposed as part of this consolidation.
Section 3.20 of the Halifax Municipal Planning Strategy’s Implementation Policies allows for “child care centres” that do not meet existing Land Use By-law regulations to be considered by a development agreement contract with the HRM.
The Development Plans (provided below) outline the development proposal in detail and include information related to the traffic and street analysis.
Process
The application will be considered under the Development Agreement process.
