Halifax Regional Police is advising the public of a potential food tampering incident.

At 3 p.m. today, the manager of the Bedford Superstore called police to report that a customer had located a nail inside a potato from a 5-pound bag of Farmer’s Market red potatoes purchased at that location at the end of August. The manager had retrieved the remaining potatoes and the bag from the customer prior to contacting police. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Police ask that anyone who finds any foreign metal objects in a potato refrain from throwing out the potato, metal object or the bag it was located in when purchased. Please contact police so the potatoes and related items can be passed along to investigators.
