Investigators in the Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Unit are continuing to seek public assistance in the homicide of Catherine Campbell.
Catherine Campbell’s remains were found at 12:10 a.m. on September 16. The accused, 27-year-old Christopher Calvin Garnier of Halifax, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. the same morning. As was released earlier this morning, Garnier faces charge of second degree murder and indecently interfering with a dead human body. The latter charge pertains to the cavalier disposal of Catherine’s remains.
As part of the on-going investigation, investigators are looking to speak to anyone who may have seen the accused, pushing or pulling a green bin on Agricola, North and/or Barrington Streets around 4:30 a.m. on September 11. The accused is described as a white man who was wearing shorts and a t-shirt at the time. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5016. In Catherine’s honour and out of respect for the Truro Police Service, we’re flying the flag of the Town of Truro outside of our headquarters building. We also have a book of condolences at Police Headquarters, 1975 Gottingen Street, for our employees and citizens to sign until end of day on Monday, September 21. The book will be given to Chief David MacNeil of the Truro Police Service.
