Halifax Regional Police has charged a man following a car/cyclist collision, car crash and break and enter this morning in Halifax.

At approximately 7:11 a.m., police responded to the 6700 block of Jubilee Road in relation to a car/cyclist collision, where the car left the scene. A 60-year-old woman was reported to have been struck while stopped to make a left turn onto Fairfield Road. The woman was not injured.

At 7:15 a.m., a call came in regarding a car that had crashed and flipped on its roof at the corner of Prince Arthur Street and Tupper Grove. The uninjured lone male driver was seen walking away from the crash.

Police then attended the residence of the owner of the crashed vehicle and determined his apartment had been broken into sometime overnight, and his wallet, car keys, laptop and car were stolen.

At 7:39 a.m., patrol officers located a man matching the suspect’s description in the 2400 block of Connaught Avenue. He was found to be in possession of the car owner’s stolen items. The suspect was arrested without incident and is currently in police custody.

An 18-year-old Halifax man has been charged with break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.  He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court tomorrow to face these charges.
