The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists that road construction on St. Margaret’s Bay Road between Quarry Road and Douglas Drive has been extended until the end of October.
The delays are in part due to encountering unforeseen underground infrastructure and rock excavation for storm sewer installation.
Crews have been working a seven-day work week during the month of September and will continue to do so in October to finish this project as quickly as possible.
During the closure, customers will still have access to businesses on the impacted route, but there will be no through-traffic. Residents living in the affected area will have access to their driveways. A signed detour will be in place to assist motorists travelling in this area.
The project includes:
- New asphalt
- New sidewalks on both sides of the road
- New curb and gutter
- New watermain and storm sewer
- Upgraded push-button activated overhead crosswalk (RA-5) at Fenwood Road/Fenerty Road
Motorists are asked to use an alternative route while this work is underway.
The municipality appreciates your patience while this work is completed.
