Police seek public assistance locating person wanted on Canada-wide warrant in relation to shooting

Halifax Regional Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a person wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant for weapons charges in relation to a shooting that occurred in Dartmouth last year.

On April 6, a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued for Durrell Samuel Diggs, 25, after his bail was revoked by the courts.

On October 23, 2022, at approximately 5:30 a.m., police responded to a report that a woman had been shot in the area of Portland Street and Portland Hills Drive in Dartmouth. Officers located a 27-year-old woman who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital for treatment of her injuries. Officers arrested five suspects at the scene. Two men, including Diggs, appeared in court on October 24, 2022. The other three men were scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face charges in relation to the incident.

Durrell Samuel Diggs was charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm x 2
  • Unsafe storage contrary to regulations x 2
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm x 2
  • Possession of weapon obtained in an offence x 2
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized x 2
  • Unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle x 2
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition x 2
  • Possession contrary to firearm prohibition x 3

Diggs is described as approximately 6’ tall, 160 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
