The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Bayers Road, from Romans Avenue to Micmac Street, beginning Monday, July 6.
Crews will be on site weekdays intermittently, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Work will continue until the end of October. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.
This work is required as part of Phase 1 of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor project, which involves the widening of this section of Bayers Road, to add dedicated bus lanes in both directions. Phase 1 construction will occur over two construction seasons.
Once complete, the dedicated bus lanes will allow residents to travel more conveniently and efficiently through this corridor.
In March 2018, Regional Council approved the detailed design of the dedicated bus lanes on Bayers Road. The Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor is a key component of Halifax Transit’s Moving Forward Together Plan and the Integrated Mobility Plan.

Construction During COVID-19: Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to provide at least two metres of physical distancing.
