Tuesday, May 20, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax will be the place to be on Tuesday, July 1, when the six-time Juno Award-winning Sam Roberts Band takes to the stage in what will be the biggest Canada Day concert ever held at Alderney Landing.
The free concert celebrating Canada’s 147th birthday will also feature performances by acts from across the country, including July Talk from Toronto, A Belle Game out of Vancouver, and Halifax’s own, Ben Caplan & The Casual Smokers.
Residents are encouraged to wear their best red and white for this full day of family fun. The celebrations get going with pancake breakfasts at Grand Parade and Alderney Landing, followed by the singing of the national anthem from the top of Citadel Hill. The festivities continue with the Tattoo Parade through downtown Halifax, the Maple Lodge Farms Family Fun-Fest on the Halifax Common and of course a spectacular fireworks display from Halifax Harbour at 10 p.m.
This incredible free day of events is made possible by the Halifax Regional Municipality and its generous sponsors, including The Village Shops at Dartmouth Crossing, Canadian Heritage, Molson Coors Canada, Maple Lodge Farms, Pepsi, Holiday Inn Harbourview, CTV, C100/The Bounce and The Chronicle Herald.
