UPDATE: Police have re opened the sidewalks and walkways in relation to the earlier stabbing call on Barrington Street in Halifax.
The victim was treated for injuries in hospital and post surgery, is in stable condition.
We thank the public for their patience while police worked to process the scene for evidence.

Police on scene for a weapons complaint.
Police are currently on scene in the 1000 block of Barrington Street, Halifax for what has been reported as a man stabbed.
On scene, police located the victim, a man in his forties with an injury consistent with being stabbed with an edged weapon.
The victim has been transported to the QE2 hospital for injuries that are not known in terms of severity at this point.
There is no immediate threat to the general public nor any safety concerns.
General vehicular traffic has not been rerouted, but portions of the sidewalk and general area closed to pedestrians until further notice for scene processing.
The only description of the suspect at this time is a white man believed to be in his early to mid forties.
The investigation is in its early stages. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or video from the area to call 902-490-5020.
