Police lay charges for drug and weapons offences

Police have charged a man and a woman with drug and weapons offences in relation to a search in Dartmouth over the weekend.

Investigators in the Drug Unit and the Guns and Gangs Unit of the Integrated Special Enforcement Section, along with members from the Emergency Response Team, conducted a search of an address in the 200 block of Wyse Road in relation to an ongoing investigation. Investigators arrested a man and a woman at the scene and seized two guns, ammunition, a knife, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

Prince Joseph Hobin, 24, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Unsafe storage of a firearm (x2)
  • Unsafe storage contrary to regulations (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x3)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon (x1)
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized (x2)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing it is unauthorized (x1)
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition (x1)
  • Possession contrary to a prohibition order (x5)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x1)

A 27-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Unsafe storage of a firearm (x2)
  • Unsafe storage contrary to regulations (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized (x2)
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition (x1)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x1)
