Police investigate shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred this morning in Dartmouth.

At 5:27 a.m., police responded to a report that a woman had been shot in the area of Portland Street and Portland Hills Drive in Dartmouth. They located a 27-year-old woman who had sustained non- life-threatening injuries. 

Traffic inbound on Portland Street is currently being diverted and a heavy police presence remains in the area. The incident is not believed to be random. The investigation is in the early stages and updates will be provided when available. 

Investigators in the General Investigation Section are investigating the shooting and are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 902-490-5020. Update: 

Police are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred this morning in the area of Portland Street and Portland Hills Drive in Dartmouth. 

There is no threat to public safety and Portland Street has been reopened to traffic. Officers will remain on scene to investigate the incident and we thank the public for their continued cooperation.
