Police charge three people in relation to shooting

Police have charged three people in relation to a shooting that occurred in Dartmouth over the weekend.

On April 30 at approximately 11:45 p.m. police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Camden Street in Dartmouth. Responding officers did not locate any victims in the area, but a man who had been shot was located a short time later at the hospital in Dartmouth. Officers recovered shell casings in the area of Camden Street, and in another area in Dartmouth, officers located a vehicle that had been struck by bullets and seized a loaded firearm from the vehicle.

Officers arrested three men without incident in Dartmouth. The three men ages 18,19 and 20, are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm

The investigation is ongoing. At this time, investigators do not believe this to be a random incident.
