Police charge man in relation to a robbery

Police have charged a man in relation to a robbery that occurred in Bedford yesterday.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery in progress at Civic Pride Automotive located at 62 Bluewater Road. A man was in a dispute with an employee of the business. The man threatened the employee, struck him with what was believed to be a firearm and then fled the area in a vehicle. The employee was treated at the scene by EHS for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested a short time later on Pockwock Road in Hammonds Plains by members of the Halifax District RCMP. An airsoft pistol was seized from the vehicle.

Nima Seyed Tabatabaei, 26, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Attempt robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Uttering threats
  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance
  • Flight from a police officer
