Police arrest one man and continue to investigate a robbery in Halifax

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred yesterday in downtown Halifax.

On March 10 at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress at Crystal’s Convenience store, located at 1268 Hollis Street in Halifax. Two men had entered the store, both with firearms and demanded product and cash. Both men then physically assaulted a staff member. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the scene on foot with a quantity of cash and cigarettes. One of the men was arrested in the area and police continue to search for the second man.

Joshua Mitchell Zinck, 39, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery with offensive weapon
  • Assault
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm – no license/certificate
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Use firearm in commission of an offence
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
  • Store a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order (x4)
  • Failure to comply with conditions or release order (x2)
  • Resist arrest

The investigation is ongoing.
