Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – Mayor Mike Savage and members of Regional Council are inviting residents to get into the Christmas spirit by attending this weekend’s Halifax Christmas Tree Lighting, the first of a few holiday-themed events to be held over the coming weeks.
When: Saturday, Nov. 28, 6-7 p.m.
Where: Grand Parade Square, downtown Halifax
Join us for this free, family-friendly event which will include the lighting of the tree, fireworks, a visit from old Saint Nick, and entertainment by Big Fish. Don’t miss this fun holiday celebration, which will also feature a special dance party with Puss in Boots, a popular DreamWorks Animation character.
Take advantage of Efficiency Nova Scotia’s LED holiday light exchange program at this event. Bring two sets of old, incandescent holiday lights and exchange them for a new set of LED lights. Energy efficiency experts will also be available to answer questions and provide tips on other ways to save this holiday season.
Please note that Argyle Street, from Duke Street to Carmichael Street, will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, Nov.28, between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to accommodate this event. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to take caution when travelling in the downtown core due to the large number of people expected to attend the tree lighting.
