On June 9, 2025, North West Community Council approved the application for a development agreement to permit the construction of townhouse-style multi-unit buildings at 229 Beaver Bank Rd., Beaver Bank.

Application for a development agreement to permit the construction of townhouse-style multi-unit buildings at 229 Beaver Bank Rd., Beaver Bank.

Proposal

The applicant wishes to enter into a development agreement to construct 5 townhouse-style multi-unit buildings. 

The major aspects of the proposal are as follows:

  • The intention is to subdivide the lot in two, with the existing single-unit dwelling to remain on its own parcel of land.
  • The proposed road will be privately owned.
  • 5 buildings with 17 total units.

The Development Plans (provided below) outline the development proposal in detail, and include information related to the layout of the site, traffic impacts, stormwater management, and planning rationale. 

Process

The application will be considered under the Development Agreement Process.

TAKE NOTICE THAT North West Community Council did, on Monday, June 9, 2025, approve the following:

PLANAPP 2024-00312 - Application for a development agreement to permit the construction of townhouse-style multi-unit buildings at 229 Beaver Bank Rd., Beaver Bank.

Any aggrieved person, the Provincial Director of Planning, or the Council of any adjoining municipality may, within fourteen days of the publishing of this notice on the HRM website, appeal to the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board (902.424.4448), in accordance with the provisions of the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter.

This notice was posted to this site on June 10, 2025 in accordance with the requirements of the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter.

Documents Submitted for Evaluation

The applicant has submitted plans and studies required by HRM staff to properly evaluate the application. The documents are also available for review at the Planning Applications office in Downtown Halifax.
