Lifeguard training program

Eastern Shore lifeguard training pilot program

The Halifax Regional Municipality is launching a pilot program to provide free lifeguard training to residents living on the Eastern Shore. Training will allow for completion of Bronze Medallion, Bronze cross, Standard first Aid and National Lifeguard certification, which can be used across Canada.

Training will start on Jan. 14, 2023 and take place on weekends between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. In-person training will be held at the Sackville Sports Stadium and in Musquodoboit Harbour. Some training will take place over Zoom.

Participants will receive free transportation to and from the training pool from central community pick-up locations. Upon completion, participants will have the opportunity to be hired for summer 2023 lifeguard positions starting at $17.30 per hour. Training will be completed in March 2023.
